Ashley Roxanne Peterson might seem like any other ordinary 24-year-old but one thing that sets her apart from her peers is the fact that she is the youngest Osteopathic Doctor ever to date.

Having enrolled at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine when she was just 19, she graduated, becoming the youngest medical doctor in that field.

Before that she had set a record by enrolling at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte at age 15 years to study Anthropology and minor in Sociology, graduating with honors.

Choosing Medicine as a Career

Dr Peterson is doing her family medicine residency in Atlanta at the Morehouse School of Medicine. One of the many reasons why she chose Morehouse was their mission statement which states:

“The mission of the MSM Family Medicine Residency is to train residents to become competent and excellent family physicians to serve underserved populations. Everything comes full circle – thus, never lose sight of why you started!”

According to the Doctor she started having a liking for medicine because she had a natural passion for science and wanted to impact lives by helping people, and maybe partly to her parents servicing in the military and education field.

With this background she knew she was destined to helping people in underserved and minority communities.

Real Medicine with Dr. Rox

As a family medical doctor Dr Peterson wanted to extend her doctor patient relationship and decided to start Real Medicine with Dr. Rox which is accessed on Youtube, Instagram and many Podcast sites. The purpose of Real Medicine with Dr. Rox was to use technology such as smartphones and computers to promote good family health.

While pursing her studies she also started a successful blog called Daily Medicine for pre-medical students which garnered more than 100 000 engagements and over 5 000 participants. Its main purpose was to offer help from experts in 10 various medical fields.

The blog serves as a networking platform for mentorship, research and advise, and has already helped countless students gain entrance to allopathic and osteopathic medical schools.
