Jay-Z isn’t showing any signs of slowing down less than four years after becoming the first rapper to earn a billion dollars.
The most recent estimate from Forbes places the Brooklyn-born Jay Z’s net worth at $2.5 billion.
With investments in Armand de Brignac champagne, D’Usse cognac, and numerous investment properties in New York and LA, Jay-Z became the first billionaire in rap back in 2019.
His fortune has increased significantly in recent years, in part as a result of the expansion of his entertainment company Roc Nation, the sale of the streaming service Tidal, and multiple investments in businesses like Uber. Just one year ago, Forbes estimated his net worth to be $1.4 billion.
According to Forbes, his wealth places him as the 1,210th richest person in the world.
Jay-Z stated during a 2010 sit-down with famed investor Warren Buffett that he approached music from a different view when it came to investing, referencing the Oracle of Omaha’s strategy where investors invest solely in businesses which they understand as opposed to what is most popular , nearly a decade before becoming a billionaire.
In contrast to the widespread belief in the 1990s that musicians shouldn’t strive to wealth, the now 53-year-old tackled his career with the intention of making money.
At the conclusion of their talk, Buffett predicted that young people will eventually turn to Jay-Z for financial guidance.

The 53-year-old tycoon is also the owner of Roc Nation, according to the report, and he also has “a fine art collection, including works by Jean-Michel Basquiat.”
