Jay-Z rarely makes a mistake when it comes to his watch collection. He knows what he’s doing, whether he’s hunting down unique and interesting old Patek Philippe watches, or sifting through the latest releases to uncover the best of the best.

Hov’s most recent timepiece, a Richard Mille RM 47 Tourbillon timepiece that was released in April of 2022 which costs over a reported $1 million dollars.

Although Richard Mille is known for showcasing technical prowess, this watch also includes a background that is unusual for timepieces.

A totally hand-carved samurai honour and two golden feathers, the emblem of the illustrious Asano clan of samurai, may be seen on this item.

The watch is a tribute to Asano Naganori, a clan chief who was forced to commit seppuku in 1701 and whose followers waited almost two years to exact revenge on their dead leader.

The reference number, RM 47, refers to the 47 ronin (or leaderless samurai) who carried out the conspiracy. Look for a different watch manufacturer that would produce a timepiece based on a fable about a Japanese samurai.

The latest Jay-Z-worthy timepiece can be created by RM using solely the Bushido, or samurai moral code; other manufacturers can maintain their racing, diving, and aviation accomplishments.

RM 47 Tourbillon

The RM 47 Tourbillon is an impressively realistic work of art that features a samurai-suit-friendly, incredibly tiny calibre. This ornamentation has such a presence thanks to the aggressiveness of its volumes that it almost seems like sculpture rather than engraving.

The RM 47 Tourbillon connects spirituality and the arts, making a fresh masterpiece that pays a visual homage to Japanese culture. The result of careful thought and nearly four years of design effort is the RM 47 Tourbillon.

A cordial dialogue between Richard Mille and Fernando Alonso, a fervent admirer of Japanese traditional arts and the Samurai traditions and a brand partner, led to the creation of the model.
