Before that she had set a milestone by enrolling at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte at the age of 15 to study Anthropology and a minor in Sociology, graduating with honors.

Choosing Medicine as a Career

Dr Peterson is doing her family medicine residency in Atlanta at the Morehouse School of Medicine. One of the many reasons why she chose Morehouse was their mission statement which states:

“The mission of the MSM Family Medicine Residency is to train residents to become competent and excellent family physicians to serve underserved populations. Everything comes full circle – thus, never lose sight of why you started!”

According to the Doctor, she began to have a passion for medicine because she had a natural enthusiasm for science and wanted to make an effect on humanity by helping others, and maybe partially on her parents working in the military and education fields.

With this background she knew she was destined to helping people in underserved and minority communities.

Real Medicine with Dr. Rox

As a family medical practitioner, Dr. Peterson wanted to expand her doctor-patient relationship and decided to start Real Medicine with Dr. Rox on Twitter, Instagram and several Podcast sites. The aim of Real Medicine with Dr. Rox was to use technologies such as smartphones and computers to encourage good family health.

Her Daily Medicine Blog

While pursuing her studies, she also launched a successful blog called Daily Medicine for pre-medical students with more than 100 000 engagements and over 5 000 participants. Its main goal was to provide assistance from specialists in 10 different medical fields.

The blog acts as a networking forum for mentoring, study and training, and has already helped countless students gain access to allopathic and osteopathic medical schools.
