By allowing companies to post jobs directly on Facebook, Facebook is undermining LinkedIn’s specialty.

Human resources activities such as screening job candidates and recruiting may fall squarely on your shoulders as a small-business owner. With the advent of Facebook Jobs, Facebook has just made this procedure easier.

This new service is similar to LinkedIn in that it allows businesses and organizations to post available positions and receive applications directly on the site, but it is free for businesses.

Increasing the accessibility of hiring

When Facebook launched its job posting tool in 2017, the company stated that it was inspired by small businesses:

With the “Jobs” function, Facebook has taken a step toward making recruiting simpler for the 40% of small-business owners who say hiring is a larger issue than they anticipated.

More than 1 billion people were browsing at Facebook’s “Pages” on the network before the Jobs function was ever enabled. According to Facebook, users and company owners were already utilizing the network to discover and fill jobs, so the new feature was simply an extra tool to make things simpler.

Through making an announcement, Facebook offered Page admins the authority and resources to post job opportunities on their pages, and Facebook users the ability to apply for those positions directly on the platform.

How does it work?

Businesses may use the Jobs tool to publish job ads to their official page, complete with title, role description, “part-time” vs. “full-time,” and other information, just as they would a normal update. The job posting will appear on the company’s official page as well as on Facebook’s “Jobs” section. That area is dedicated to job seekers and employers wanting to fill positions.

People seeking for work may use the site in a variety of ways to locate the most recent job openings. People with Facebook accounts may navigate through the Positions bookmark and view jobs posted on a specific company’s page, or the job ad may appear in their feed.

They can also narrow down their search by geography and industry, after which they can click the “Apply Now” button when they’ve found your job post.

When a user clicks apply, a pre-populated screen appears, which extracts information from their profile. Name, education, present city, and work history will all be made public. The application form will fill with anything relevant that the user has made public on their Facebook page.

After you’ve listed your job opening on Facebook and gotten several applications, you can keep track of them all in one location.

You’ll be able to examine job applications and react to prospects using Messenger, as well as enhance your job listing to other audiences on Facebook if it’s not receiving the attention it deserves.

Step 1: Go to your Facebook profile for your business.

You will need to sign in as the administrator of your company’s Facebook page to start the posting process. Remember that this is not the same as a site user profile; only people with a profile and authorization may manage or update pages.

Step 2: To create a new job ad, click “job”

Select the “Job” option mentioned above “Write a post” once you’ve browsed to your company page.

Step 3: Fill up the blanks with information about the position.

After that, you should be ready to begin entering job details and information.

Job seekers are likely to want to learn as much as possible about the vacant position, thus details beyond the conventional job description, such as income, location, and business culture, can help the ad stand out.

On your end, you may edit elements regarding the job ad, such as how you accept applications via Facebook Messenger. Posters, on the other hand, can choose to have the applications forwarded to them through email if that is how they like to evaluate them.

When making a job posting, scroll to the bottom of the page and enter your email address under the instruction “Receive applicants by email.”

Step 4: Take a look at the job advertisement.

Before the job ad goes live online, you can see a preview of it. Look to the right column and select “Desktop News Feed” or “Mobile News Feed” to see a preview of the job posting.

Step 5: Make the job posting public.

After you’re pleased with how it appears, photo, description and all, select, “Publish Job Post.” Job seekers will be able to read the ad and apply as soon as it is posted online.

Facebook job postings are only valid for 30 days. The job posting can be renewed after the 30-day period has passed, but visitors to the business page will not be able to view it after it has expired and before it is renewed.
