During a Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, Samsung announced its next flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S22 series.
Samsung’s powerful 4-nanometre Exynos 2200 processor, the company’s first to include AMD RDNA 2 graphics, or the top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will power the new devices.
The new technology, according to Samsung, provides lightning-fast gaming and super-smooth processing to increase productivity.
The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+, as predicted, have the same contour cut designs as their predecessors, with rounded edges and a back camera bump that blends into the phone’s frame.
The screens are flat, with 10MP selfie cameras hole-punched in the center at the top.
Both versions include a triple camera setup on the back, with a 23 percent bigger 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens.
Customers will be able to pick from four different colors: black, white, green, and pink.
With a rectangular form factor, curved screen, and a S Pen pen and slot to store it, the premium Galaxy S22 Ultra receives the Note treatment.
The new S Pen, according to Samsung, has a 70 percent reduced latency.
Samsung’s decision to merge the S and Note lines almost ensures that the Note will no longer be offered as a standalone line.
The Ultra is equipped with a quad-camera system that includes a 108MP primary lens, a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a 10MP zoom lens.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra will also be available in black, white, and green, but instead of the pink on the S22 and S22+, it will have a deeper burgundy finish for its fourth choice.
For the most part, Samsung’s S-line has followed the standard setup formula.
Except for the displays and batteries, the S22 and S22+ share a lot of the same hardware.
The S22 has a 6.1-inch screen, whereas the S22+ has a 6.6-inch display.
Despite both having a 1,080 x 2,340 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, the S22’s peak brightness is 1,300 nits, while the S22+’s has 1,750 nits.
The screen on the S22 Ultra is 6.8 inches and has a resolution of 1,440 x 3,080 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a brightness levels of 1,750 nits.
Notably, each of the smaller variants has a 300mAh lower battery capacity than its predecessors.
The S22 has a 3,700mAh battery vs the S21’s 4,000mAh battery, while the S22+ has a 4,500mAh battery versus the S214+’s 800mAh battery.
Apart from the increased storage, the S22+ has 45W wired fast charging against 25W on the original S22.
The S22 Ultra comes with much the same 5,000mAh battery as the S22 and 45W wired charging.
