South African beauty queen Zozibini Tunzi has just entered the record books by setting a new world record of becoming the longest-serving Miss Universe.

Zozibini has found herself holding on to the prestigious Miss Universe title a little longer than normal because of the pandemic that has brought the whole world to a halt.
The Eastern Cape beauty will now relinquish the throne in May of this year, after keeping it since 2019.

Although a new queen is normally crowned each year, 2020 proved to be an unprecedented year after the coronavirus pandemic struck and halted everything, including the annual Miss Universe crowning pageant.

Prior to Tunzi, Miss Universe 2012 Leila Lopes of Angola retained the title for 464 days, from September 2011 to December 2012.
